Wisbech 1st XV suffered a 36-12 defeat against Mistley on Saturday, November 9.
The home side started strong, with scrum half Zac Lakey scoring early on.
However, Mistley quickly took control, dominating both possession and territory.
Wisbech's discipline issues saw James Napier spend 10 minutes in the sin bin, allowing Mistley to capitalise with a penalty and a try.
Rory Willis's injury added to Wisbech's woes, but MJ Wright's strong defence kept them in the game, going into half-time 5-10 down.
Mistley continued their dominance in the second half, leaving Wisbech struggling to keep up.
Despite a late penalty try, Wisbech couldn't find their rhythm.
Director of rugby Leonard Veenendaal said: “It was a frustrating performance from us, we good put it down to global warming or Brexit but in reality we were just not good enough.
“As a club, we are better than this and set ourselves high standards, which we are not achieving at this stage, but there is a lot of work going on to address it.”
Wisbech 1st XV will travel to Ipswich on Saturday for round 9 of the Counties 2 Eastern Counties league.
Elsewhere, Wisbech U18 Colts travelled to Shelford for a three-way fixture with Shelford and Mersea Island.
They overcame Mersea 21-5 but lost 14-0 to Shelford.
Coach Luke Hare commented: “Due to unavailability we travelled with a smaller than usual squad but the boys played there hears out putting in an effort they and the club can be very proud of”
On Friday, November 1, Wisbech Vets kicked off their season with a 40-5 win on the road against Stamford Vets.
Despite Stamford's experience, Wisbech's quick ball and handling ensured a strong start.
The Vets will next be in action when they host Stamford for the return fixture at home on December 7, 2024.
