A stray dog that has been spotted in a Fenland town for the past week has finally been rescued, Fenland District Council has confirmed.
The German Shepherd was spotted on North Brink Road in Wisbech earlier this week with other sightings recorded in Cox's Lane and Miletree Lane.
Numerous members of the public attempted to catch the dog after concerns for its welfare.
The district council announced it had been taken to safety earlier this afternoon (November 7).
A spokesperson said: "Fenland District Council’s stray dog collection and Street Scene teams are hugely grateful to everyone who has been concerned for the animal’s welfare – and especially to the team at Tejaycey Dog Hotel who were able to safely contain her on their land this morning.
"She has now been taken to be checked over by a vet and will be handed to a rescue centre if owners cannot be traced.
