A former Norfolk police officer fulfilled his wish to revisit his former station.
Ray, who has been a cherished resident at Hickathrift House for almost a year, was taken on a special visit to Downham Market Police Station.
The trip was organised by the care home staff, who were aware of how much it meant to him, and was hosted by local policing team members, PCs Iain and Chris.
Ray's daughter and granddaughter accompanied him on the visit, eagerly anticipating the joy on his face as his dream materialised.
PCs Chris and Iain first met Ray during a community coffee event at Hickathrift House in August.
Their visit sparked a flood of memories for Ray, who shared numerous stories and was visibly proud when the officers showed him his retirement announcement article.
It was this interaction that inspired Ray to wish for a visit to Downham Market station.
The Hickathrift team, alongside PCs Chris and Iain, worked together to make this special trip a reality.
His visit to the station was a nostalgic journey down memory lane, filled with story-swapping and photo-sharing over cups of tea.
Ray's daughter and granddaughter brought along a suitcase filled with his career memorabilia, adding to the sentimental experience.
PC Iain, along with the police archivist, found incredible photographs of Ray throughout his career.
To top off the visit, PC Iain presented Ray with his own police hat, which he was thrilled to wear once again.
Ray said: “The trip has taken me back. I remember so many stories, so many faces.
"I’ve had a good career and met some good people along the way. Thank you so much for bringing these memories back. It’s been great.”
Hickathrift House has a 'Post a Wish' initiative where residents can write their goals, passions, and meaningful activities they’d like to do.
