Fenland’s favourite Santa who was on the hunt for work after Dobbies announced its closure has secured a new grotto.
Jack Connor will have his own space at the Tesco Extra store in Wisbech for children to meet Santa and share their Christmas wishes with him.
The news was confirmed today (Thursday).
Jack perfected his craft after working in the Dobbies grotto in King’s Lynn for around 10 years.
And since it emerged he was looking for a new grotto, he has been inundated with job offers from high-profile venues around the East of England.
But Santa Jack wants the visits to be as affordable as possible for families and Tesco has promised to keep the prices as low as possible.
He has also stipulated that he doesn’t want to be paid – but any money remaining after costs is to be donated to the Wisbech Lions Club.
Jack said: “It’s lovely that we’ve been able to sort something out with Julie at Tesco. I’m so grateful for their help.
“When Dobbies said it was closing in King’s Lynn my heart sank for all the families who had already booked their visits and breakfasts with Santa.
“So I’m really pleased Julie at Tesco has offered to help. I explained I can’t let down the commitments I already had and we’re going to work around those.
“It’s going to be brilliant. It all seems to be working out.”

Santa’s grotto will be open from November 30. Further details and booking arrangements will be announced in due course.
Julie Bushby, the store’s community manager, said: “I met Jack today and he is an amazing person, I kept saying thank you for choosing us because he had so many amazing offers.
“He said all he needs is coffee throughout his days in the grotto and for me to be his helpful elf – and I’ve said yes to both!
“I also help with the Meadowgate Academy Friends Association and he’s even offered to do a special visit for the children there. I’m overwhelmed by his kindness.”
