Plans for a specialist Green Skills Academy at the College of West Anglia in Wisbech have been submitted to planners.
The two-storey teaching facility will be located to the west of the main Ramnoth Road campus and adjacent to the A1101 Churchill Road dual carriageway.
The proposals for the modern building include three workshops, a multi-use studio, an office, staff facilities and storage space.
If given the go-ahead, it will be built on an 11.6-acre site.
A design and access statement submitted alongside the application to Fenland planners explained the concept of the academy is “to support developing skills required for ‘Green’ industries and technologies”.

The document says: “The proposed design for the Green Skills Academy for the College of West Anglia, is a carefully considered response to the brief and site.
“The new building location has been sensitively examined, to minimise impact on neighbouring buildings whilst maximising its presence on the campus and passing traffic on Churchill Road.
“The proposal has no impact on the setting of nearby Listed buildings.
“The considered scale and form of the new building respects the existing neighbouring buildings, building lines and no part of the building is greater than two storeys.
“The proposed new Green Skills Academy building will provide new teaching and training facilities for the College of West Anglia and Wisbech and serve its local community for many years to come.”
The application was validated by Fenland planners on October 2.
The college currently offers a range of courses in green skills and environmental sustainability.
