Celebrations have been in full swing at Hickathrift House Care Home, in Marshland St James, Wisbech, as one of its residents reaches her 103rd birthday.
Norah, was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as she celebrated her birthday in style, making her the oldest resident at Hickathrift House.
A reception was held at the home and guests enjoyed a special birthday lunch made by the home’s chef Nicci Groves. After the meal, Norah and her loved ones enjoyed a special visit from Brenda and her therapy pony Darwin, one of Norah’s favourite visitors.
Norah was born in Folkstone, Kent and joined the Women's Royal Naval Service after leaving school. She met her husband Reginald while she was in the Navy and they married in Egypt in 1944.
Norah said, “It’s been such a lovely day. Thank you all for making it so special, especially getting Darwin to come see me again. I think the secret to long life is the love of my family."
Paula Colman, general manager of Hickathrift House said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable woman as she reaches this amazing milestone. Norah is such a popular resident who always has an interesting tale to tell, and we look forward to hearing many more."
