Plans for more than 33 new homes in Leverington could be refused by the council, according to a planning officer's report.

Fenland District Council received a planning application in 2019 seeking to build 33 new home on land just off of Sutton Road in Leverington.

The same application was previously submitted to the council prior to this one, however it was refused. As a result, plans were resubmitted.

However, according to a Fenland District Council Planning Officer's report, the council look set to refuse the application once again at the Planning Committee meeting on September 18.

Leverington Parish Council have objected to the plans on the grounds that this proposed development would sit within 25 metres of a site which is already on course to build 221 new homes.

Concerns have also been raised over the site's close proximity to roads and the fact it is in a level three flood zone.

During the planning process, Fenland District Council received more than 24 responses from residents who objected to the plans.

They raised issues regarding the overdevelopment of Leverington the strain on doctors and schools, and the risk of flooding.

Residents in support of the plans said that it would benefit the local economy and give the village growth, support the provision of affordable houses, and would provide good links.

The Fenland District Council Planning Officer has deemed the proposal to have an "unacceptable impact" on highway safety in Leverington, and said that there is a high probability of flooding.

A formal decision will be made by the Planning Committee at Fenland District Council on September 18 at 1pm, at the meeting.
