Wisbech NSPCC group hosts successful family fun day, raising more than £600 for the children's charity.

The hardworking team of volunteers from the NSPCC Wisbech District hosted the joy-filled occasion at The Secret Garden Touring Park.

The event was aimed at providing a memorable summer experience for children, with many families joining in the fun.

Families engaged in different crafts and sports, including creating pirate hats and pasta necklaces, and participating in soft play and football games.

The programme also included indulging in cakes and purchasing raffle tickets, which aided the volunteers in raising more than £600 for the NSPCC.

Lisa Radcliffe, NSPCC community fundraising manager for the East of England, said: “In a cool sheltered space it was a delight to see so many people laugh, relax and have fun.

"The event had a real community atmosphere."

She mentioned the guest appearances which added to the event's charm, saying: “Mickey and Minnie Mouse made a special appearance, and told Spiderman, who also came along - the children loved it."

Again appreciating the volunteers' efforts, she said: "We couldn’t help children who need us without the incredible support of our fundraising volunteers.

”A big thank you to our wonderful NSPCC Wisbech District.”

The event also brought to light NSPCC's Childline and Helpline services, giving parents support and advice on these child protection services.

Rachel Mowbray, chairwoman of the NSPCC Wisbech District, said: “This was our first children’s activity day, and we were so pleased to offer this to our neighbours and local community.

"The children thoroughly enjoyed their activities as did our band of hard-working volunteers, who shared the day with their families and friends too.”
