A young equestrian prodigy has reigned victorious at a prestigious international horse show.

Daisy Loates, from Leverington, won the LG Show Team 133cms Working Hunter Pony championship at the renowned Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead, having qualified in May at Speetley Equestrian.

The 12-year-old attends Wisbech Grammar School, and galloped to victory on her pony, Stanray Luigi, who had never before competed at Hickstead.

Having journeyed to the event with no expectations, the pair demonstrated an impressive performance jumping over 12 technically positioned fences, featuring solid structures such as stone walls and bullfinch hedges.

Their victory emphasises their promise as a show-jumping team.
