Youngsters from Wisbech's Thomas Clarkson Academy are set to stage a riotous rendition of Bugsy Malone this month.
The Prohibition-era gangster spoof will transport its audience back to 1920s New York, complete with iconic 'splurge guns' and a gaggle of mobsters.
The pupils will star in and produce the musical themselves, as they follow the escapades of boxing promoter Bugsy, his singer girlfriend Blousy Brown, and quarrelling mobsters Fat Sam and Dandy Dan.
The production is based on the 1976 comedy classic, written and directed by Alan Parker, known for its infamously messy whipped cream fights.
Thomas Clarkson Academy has a history of captivating performances, with previous shows including Great Expectations, High School Musical, and Into the Woods Jr.
Audiences can watch Bugsy Malone from July 10 to 12 at 7pm.
The shows will take place in the school theatre over three consecutive nights.
The academy, part of the Brooke Weston Trust, offers free on-site parking for attendees.
Tickets for the show are available at £6 each from ticketsource.co.uk/thomas-clarkson, or can also be purchased via ParentPay on the school’s website.
