Friends and family have come to the aid of a Wisbech family of five whose home was destroyed by blaze over the weekend.

A fundraising campaign has been launched to support the Hunt family following an electrical fire at their property on Bramley Road in Wisbech.

Close family friend Annemarie Paley launched a GoFundMe page to raise funds for for Vicky and Richard Hunt, and their three young children.

She said: "Their home is now uninhabitable due to extensive damage to the entire kitchen, conservatory and upstairs bathroom along with smoke damage to the rest of the entire house.

"The trauma they have endured continues as the council were unable to provide emergency accommodation for them as a family and has resulted in the children being split up amongst family members to help restore some form of normality due to the loss of their home."

According to Annemarie, Vicky and Richard have been housed in King's Lynn hotel and are having to travel daily to see their children.

Crews from Wisbech, March along with crews from West Walton and Outwell (Norfolk) were called to the blaze on Bramley road at 3.08pm on Saturday June 15.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

Annemarie added: "As I’m sure you can imagine they are all quite emotional and unfortunately do not have contents insurance to claim from.

"I am asking for your support as a community to help raise funds to assist with the loss of all their belongings (clothes, sofa, beds, kitchen etc.) to help with the financial burden that looms over them through this traumatic time and help piece my friends family back together as a community."
