An RAF driver caught speeding at over 100mph on the A47 has escaped a ban after arguing it would affect his military career.
Elliott Hodge, 24, was stopped in his BMW after being clocked by police doing 101mph at Terrington St John, between King’s Lynn and Wisbech, on July 30 last year.
The mechanical transport driver, stationed at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, pleaded guilty to speeding but appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court to argue special reasons in a bid to keep his licence.
He said he had been overtaking when recorded and had “not been travelling at this speed for a long period”.

Being disqualified could impact on his role with the RAF, he argued.
“I’m proud to serve with the RAF and want to continue my job for years to come,” he added.
RAF Coningsby is home to two frontline combat-ready squadrons and is the training station for Typhoon pilots.
Magistrates imposed six points and ordered him to pay fines and costs of £600.
People caught doing 101mph and over face a court summons and can be disqualified from driving for between seven and 56 days or receive six points.
