A specialist centre in Wisbech which provides support for people living with a life-limiting illness has received a New Year boost.
The Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre, based at the North Cambridgeshire Hospital on Churchill Road, has been presented with a 55-inch TV set by Hughes Electrical.
David Youngs, manager of the Hughes store in the town’s Horsefair Shopping Centre, said: “When I was serving a customer she asked if we ever did anything to support the local community?
“Definitely, I replied - we have been operating in the town for decades and will always support a good local cause if we can.
“She went on to explain how the existing TV at the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre was faulty and they desperately needed a replacement.
“I immediately contacted Toni Bird, the fundraising co-ordinator to discuss their specific requirements.
“Following which, I had no hesitation in offering a brand new 55-inch TV.”
Toni Bird added: “The TV is very important to our patients.
“It can help them pass the time as individual treatments can last up to six hours.
“So, we are immensely grateful to Hughes for their kind donation.”
