Pupils at Upwell Academy have been learning how to be historians by looking at the life and times of the Ancient Egyptians.
Year 3 children all came in dressed in astonishing costumes and had a blast being Egyptians for the day.
There were 33 dynasties of pharaohs – a few famous ones are Tutankhamun who was in the 18th dynasty and Cleopatra who was the last pharaoh in Egypt.
The children learned about Tutankhamun, the Pharaohs and highlighted lots of interesting facts about Ancient Egypt.
The children made their own papyrus is a material similar to thick paper that was used in ancient times as a writing surface.
They also wrote in hieroglyphics, pictorial writing, particularly used on ancient Egyptian monuments.
Miss Riches, class teacher, has enjoyed teaching the topic with her pupils.
She said: “We liked exploring the process of mummification; we had two embalmers in our class who demonstrated how the the Ancient Egyptians took out all four organs (which are the lungs, stomach, intestines and liver) and placed them in Canopic jars.
“I also bandaged my body and became a mummy. We did lots of different activities, my favourite was writing my name in hieroglyphs.”
Frankie, a Year 3 pupil, said: "Thank you to Miss Riches and all our staff who organised and led a fabulous day."
