Hickathrift House in Marshland St James, Wisbech, have recently launched a dementia café for residents as well as members of the local community after upgrading their activities room, ‘the Snug’.

Taking place every third Friday of the month, guests will have a chance to meet other carers, gain support and advice for their loved ones living with dementia and have a chance to meet the team at the home, to discuss any questions they might have about care.

To celebrate the launch staff and residents at the home marked the occasion with a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony opened by the Mayor of Wisbech, Peter Human along with general manager Paula Colman, resident ambassador Barrie, and relatives ambassador Viv.

After looking around the newly renovated space, everyone enjoyed a selection of sweet treats made by Hickathrift’s hospitality team.

General manager, Paula Colman, of Hickathrift House Care Home, said: “The new Dementia Café looks brew-tea-ful!

“Dedicated to members of our local community who are carers for loved ones who are living with dementia, we’ll be hosting this new monthly support group in our newly launched Snug every third Friday of each month between 10.30am to 12pm.

“If anyone is unable to make it on the day but would like to pop in for a tour and a cup of tea, our doors are always open, and we’re happy to answer any questions you may have.”
