A busy road in a Fenland village is currently closed due to damage caused to a gas line following a crash.

Dowgate Road in Leverington is shut between Sutton Road and The Still after a collision in which a car had to be recovered from a ditch.

Police officers were called to the scene by a recovery company, who were recovering the vehicle car from a ditch.

On recovery of the vehicle, it was discovered that the car had damaged a gas line, which now needs to be repaired.

This is why the road is closed.

Police have since advised motorists to avoid the area until further notice.
