Wisbech Freemasons have donated £500 pounds to the 3rd Wisbech Girl Guide Unit, following their recent appeal for support.
The unit has been running in the town for more than 100 years, giving girls between the ages of 10 and 15 a wide range of experiences and opportunities to develop and grow.
The Guide Unit, part of the UK’s largest youth organisation dedicated completely to girls, is a charity which does not benefit from any form of grant.
They are now the only guide unit operating in the Wisbech area, covering the town and surrounding villages.
The leaders, all of whom are volunteers, are passionate about ensuring the Unit’s continued success and its ability to provide opportunities for young people who come from diverse backgrounds.
Commenting on the donation, Marcia Whitehead, the guide unit leader, said: “The support of Wisbech Freemasons is very welcome.
"We will use the donation partly to help with our weekly running costs and to support our summer camp in 2023. It is the highlight of our year’s activities, which the guides particularly look forward to and thoroughly enjoy.”
