Residents are being given the chance to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II through books of condolence.

The Queen, our nation's longest-reigning monarch, died at Balmoral aged 96 on September 8.

Here is where you can find books of condolence in Cambridgeshire:

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

An online book of condolence has been set up by Cambridgeshire County Council.

East Cambridgeshire

Books of condolence opened at 9:00am today (Friday) at the district council's offices at The Grange, Ely.

Books will also be available at:

  • Walter Gidney Pavilion, Soham;
  • Holy Trinity Church, Bottisham;
  • St Mary’s Church, Burwell;
  • Newmarket Town Memorial.

For residents who are unable to access the online book of condolence, arrangements are being made for councils to accept postal condolence messages, which will then be collected and placed together.

East Cambridgeshire residents can send messages clearly marked 'Condolence Book' to The Grange, Nutholt Lane, Ely, CB7 4EE.

Fordham

A book of condolence will be at the St Peter & St Mary Magdalene Church.

Fenland

Paper Books of Condolence for residents to pay tribute, and express their thoughts, opened today.

They will be open at:

- The district council's customer service centres at Fenland Hall, March;

- The Boathouse Business Centre, Wisbech, from 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday;

- Customer service centres at Chatteris and Whittlesey Libraries during library opening hours.

Online books of condolence are also available at: https://www.fenland.gov.uk/onlinecondolence.

March

A book of condolence will be available from Monday, September 12 and flowers may be laid at St Peter’s Church in March.

It is requested that anyone wishing to lay flowers kindly ensures that they are wrapped in paper and not plastic-based materials so that the flowers can be composted.

Chatteris

Books are available to sign in the Parish Church of St Peter & St Paul, Chatteris Library and the King Edward Centre.

Online messages of condolence can be posted on the town council website here.

Chatteris Town Council is happy to accept handwritten messages of condolence which can be posted to the Council Chambers, 14 Church Lane, Chatteris, PE16 6JA.

All messages will be included in the Chatteris Book of Condolence.

Whittlesey

Condolence books will be available to sign between 9.30am-3.30pm Monday to Thursday, 9.30am-12pm on a Friday and 9am-12pm on a Saturday.

Huntingdonshire

Huntingdon

- Huntingdon Town Hall - Market Square

- Coneygear Centre - Coneygear Park

- All Saints' Church - Market Square

- Huntingdon Library - Princes Street

These will be available from 12pm today (Friday) until 5pm on Tuesday, September 20.

Books of condolence, which is available to sign from 9am - 4pm weekdays, will be taken to all Huntingdon Schools.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the book will be available to sign from 10am – 3pm by the floral tribute laying area on the north side of the Town Hall.

On Sunday, September 11, the book will be available to sign in the Town Hall from 2.30 - 4.30pm.

Huntingdon Town Council said "once the period of mourning has ended, it will combine the books of condolence and have them bound to be kept in Huntingdon Town Hall's archive."

The Mayor of Huntingdon will issue a letter of condolence to Buckingham Palace and advise that a Huntingdon book of condolence has been made.

Books of condolence have been opened in the Town Hall and All Saints Parish Church for residents to sign.

St Neots

A book of condolence will be available in St Neots Parish Church on Friday and Saturday.

Sawtry

A book will be available in the Study of the Old School Hall, Monday to Friday between 9am - 7pm and one at All Saints Church.

Yaxley

Available from 9am to 4pm at the Austin Hall, Main Street.

Peterborough Cathedral

A book of condolence will be available after Evensong today which ends at around 6.25pm.

The book will be in the cathedral during opening hours, usually 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday and until 8pm tonight, Saturday and Sunday this week.

The book will not be available on Saturday, September 17 as the cathedral is closed that day.
