An American fast food chain is coming to Wisbech next month.
Wendy’s, which has almost 30 sites in the UK, is due to open a restaurant in the Horsefair Shopping Centre in April.
A spokesperson for Wendy’s said the Wisbech site will become the second in Cambridgeshire after the hamburger chain opened a restaurant at the Brampton Hut interchange in January.
Alongside new restaurants in Lincoln and Colchester to open in April and May, the Wisbech venue is due to help create more than 120 jobs.
“There are now nearly 30 Wendy’s locations in the UK, including 13 brick-and-mortar restaurants, with the aim to have 45 sites operating in the UK by the end of this year,” said a spokesperson.
“The new restaurants, which have commenced recruitment, will create over 120 jobs across the three new sites – each with competitive salaries, employee benefits and opportunities for growth.”
Wendy’s in Wisbech is due to be operated by franchisee Blank Table Limited, which runs the brand’s restaurant at Brampton Hut.
A spokesperson for Blank Table Limited said the Wisbech restaurant will create around 50 jobs.
"In Wisbech, we want to bring more oomph to the high street and make sure people are getting more opportunities," said the spokesperson.
"There are options for everybody and we hope Wendy's will bring more fun, enjoyment and more reason for people to come to the high street."
Some of the chain’s signature items are planned to be on offer at the restaurant, as well as an exclusive menu for its UK restaurants.
Other Wendy’s dine-in restaurants in the UK are located in Stratford, Oxford, Croydon, Romford, Brighton, Maidstone, Sutton [London], Uxbridge, Kingston and Sheffield.
Wendy’s and its franchisees run more than 7,000 restaurants worldwide.
